W. Denton was a British historian of the second half of the C19th. He also wrote “The Christians in Turkey” and edited “Serbian Folk-Lore”.

“Servia and the Servians” is an account of Serbia/Servia while it was still under Turkish rule. In the opening chapters Denton gives summary of the geography and history of Serbia and the remaining chapters alternate between a description of his journey through the country and the political situation and an account of Serbian church architecture, the monasteries visitied and a discussion of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
